The Pomodoro Technique
What is the Pomodoro Technique?
The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. It uses a timer to break work into focused intervals (traditionally 25 minutes) separated by short breaks.
How It Works:
1
Choose a Task
Pick a task you want to work on
2
Set Timer: 25 min
Work with full focus
3
Work Until Timer Rings
Stay focused on one task
4
Take a 5-min Break
Rest and recharge
5
Repeat
After 4 pomodoros, take 15-30 min break
Benefits:
- Improves focus and concentration
- Reduces mental fatigue through regular breaks
- Helps manage distractions
- Provides a sense of accomplishment
- Makes large tasks less overwhelming
Key Rules:
π One Pomodoro = 25 minutes of focused work
β Short Break = 5 minutes
π Long Break = 15-30 minutes (after 4 pomodoros)
